Yard events generate some of the most objective, timestamp-driven data available about carrier performance, yet many carrier scorecard programs rely on self-reported or dispatch-level data that misses what actually happened at the dock. What the Yard Actually Measures

A carrier scorecard built only from appointment data can only say whether a carrier was scheduled on time — it cannot say whether the truck actually arrived within its window, how long it waited before getting a door, or how long loading or unloading took once it started. The yard captures each of these events independently: gate check-in time, door assignment time, load start, load complete, and gate check-out. Feeding these into the scorecard turns a single appointment-compliance metric into a fuller performance picture.
