Core Return Management

Many automotive parts, especially remanufactured alternators, starters, and brake calipers, are sold under a core exchange program: the customer receives credit for returning the worn-out unit. A WMS supporting this vertical needs a distinct receiving and inspection flow for cores, separate from standard returns, with condition grading (acceptable, damaged, missing) driving the credit amount and routing the core to a remanufacturing partner or scrap.

Kitting for Service Campaigns and Recalls

Manufacturer service campaigns and recalls often require a specific kit of parts, torque specifications, and instructions bundled together and shipped to dealerships within a tight window. The WMS handles this as a bill-of-materials-driven kitting operation, allocating component stock, assembling the kit under a new kit SKU, and tracking the campaign identifier through to shipment for compliance reporting.

Same-Day and Will-Call Fulfillment

Repair shops frequently place will-call orders picked up within the hour, and distributors run multiple delivery routes per day to dealer networks. The WMS needs wave logic tuned to short cutoff windows, prioritization flags for will-call versus route orders, and tight integration with a delivery or route-planning system so that late-arriving orders don't miss their truck.
